Description
Starting with the research question, ‘How can student success be promoted through the use of peer mentoring?’ This interactive workshop brings together the findings and outputs of a three year study into the role played by peer mentoring in enhancing the student experience. Guided by the study findings, the workshop will include a facilitated discussion around the issues faced by first year students as they make the social, and then academic transition into university. Additionally, workshop participants will be given the opportunity to take part in an activity taken from the ‘Peer Mentoring Works: Institutional Manual’ looking specifically at the training of peer mentors. The workshop has been planned so as to provide colleagues with useful and useable knowledge about how peer mentoring works in promoting and enhancing student success irrespective of discipline.
