Research Interests

Dr Anwar Adem is a Vice-Chancellor’s Prize Fellow at Aston University. Dr Adem earned his PhD in Economics and previously worked as a Research Fellow at the PrOPEL Hub, University of Nottingham, and at Warwick Business School – the University of Warwick. His research interests lie in applied microeconomics, with a focus on firm performance and worker outcomes. Specifically, his research agenda includes determinants of productivity, local labour market dynamics following international and local shocks, and the role of location. He frequently utilises large firm- and worker-level administrative data to provide causal evidence at a granular level. His methodological expertise encompasses a range of econometric techniques, including panel data analysis, instrumental variables, and quantile regressions. In this current role, Dr Adem works closely with the Advanced Services Group, researching international trade in services and the impact of services on firm outcomes.
