    Personal profile

    General

Aristides joined Aston University as a Lecturer in August 2011 and is currently a Reader in Supply Chain Design & Logistics Systems, member of the Aston Logistics & Systems Institute and a Visiting Professor at the University of Lille 2, in France.

His research focuses on how to assess the present—   and especially the future— logistics and supply chain capabilities; how to design the supply chain based on strategic and logistical assessments. He is particularly interested in the concepts of “Design for Supply Chain/Logistics” and “Three Dimensional Concurrent Engineering” (3DCE).

He has been involved in several research (FP6, FP7, Horizon 2020, ERDF) and consulting projects as a freelance consultant particularly in manufacturing, food, healthcare and humanitarian sectors. He is also a regular invited speaker at international business conferences.

At Aston University he led the development of the Supply Chain Readiness Level Tool to assess the maturity and the capabilities of manufacturing supply chains. His research has appeared in the major Supply Chain Management/Logistics outlets. He has been involved in several research and consulting projects as a freelance consultant and as an external evaluator where he has reviewed proposals for the French National Research Agency (ANR) and for the prestigious Canada Excellence Research Chairs (Government of Canada).

In the DISCUS project (funded by the Advanced Propulsion Centre, Innovate UK) he looked into Drivetrain Integration, Supply Chain Upscaling and Streamlining in the Electric vehicle sector. In the NextNext (EU funded) project he is exploring the identification of trends and scenarios for future supply chains. He recently received funding (£1m.) from the European Regional Development Fund to help companies in the food and other manufacturing sectors to assess and rebuild the capabilities of their supply chains, delivering the maximum UK content, and to grow.

In 2019 he was appointed a Royal Society Short Industry Fellow to collaborate with Williams Advanced Engineering (WAE) a world-class technical innovation, engineering and specialist low volume manufacturing services provider in developing group’s supply chain strategy and the changes required to futureproof the business.

Aristides’ industrial research collaborators include Jaguar Land Rover, Saietta Group, MCT Reman, Microcab, Goodfloo, Marks & Spencer, AB Vassilopoulos, and many small and medium size companies.
