Biography

Aya joined Aston University in 2021 as a  teaching fellow. She teaches Finance at both undergraduate and Master's levels. Aya discovered her passion for teaching in higher education when she started teaching at the University of Exeter in 2015, where she won the student-nominated best postgraduate teaching assistant award. Aya has also previously taught at Lancaster University. She is passionate about raising awareness around finance-related topics and their implications beyond the classroom. In particular, Aya enjoys helping students connect what they learn in class to their lives to make better financial decisions and prepare them for finance-related jobs after graduation.

 

Qualifications

Aya attained her PhD in Economics from Lancaster University after completing an MSc in Finance and BSc in Mathematics from the American University of Beirut. Aya was awarded the Postgraduate Certificate in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education.

Research Interests

Her research interests generally lie in Applied financial econometrics and, more specifically, modelling mixed frequency financial and economic data and time-varying parameters using Bayesian analysis.
