Dimitris is Lecturer in Business Statistics in Aston Business School, having joined the school in September 2012. He received his PhD in Management Sconce from Aston University in 2013. His main areas of research are Assessing Performance (Efficiency and Productivity analysis using DEA and econometric approaches), Business Analytics (econometric and mathematical modelling for business) and Regulatory Economics. In Aston, he teaches Business Analytics at the Undergraduate level and Statistics for Business, Data Envelopment Analysis and Advance Performance Measurement at the Postgraduate level.
Prior to joining academia, Dimitris worked as a business and economics consultant and has more than 10 years of experience in the field. He worked both with private consultancies but also has experience as a freelance consultant. His main areas of expertise are Performance Measurement (specialising to top-down approaches), Economic Regulation, especially dealing with issues relating to the economic regulation of Utilities (e.g. Water and Sewerage, Electricity and Gas transmission and distribution, Rail services etc.) and Econometric and Mathematical Modelling (econometric and spreadsheet-based forecasting, simulations, what-if analysis and advanced regression analysis). He is actively engaged with the wider business community through consultancy work in his areas of expertise, which is informed by his academic research. His business and consultancy experience in turn greatly influences his teaching practice, which always revolves around the practical application of quantitative analysis in the business setting.
