Biography

I am a Reader (Associate Professor) in Sustainable Operations, Logistics & Supply Chain Management at Aston Business School, and a Visiting Professor at MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology), Centre for Transportation & Logistics.

At Aston, I am the founding Director of the Centre for Circular Economy & Advanced Sustainability (CEAS) and member fo the Aston Advanced Services Group (ASG). At MIT, I am member of the SCALE (Supply Chain & Logistics Excellence) Group and the Emerging Market Economies Logistics (EMeL) Lab.

I am also a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy in the UK and a Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport UK.

I am connected with prestigious groups and global networks of academics and practitioners promoting and developing education and research initiatives in the areas of Circular Economy, and Sustainable Operations, Logistics & Supply Chains, including:
- Research Supervisor at the Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership (CISL) at Cambridge University.
- Advisor for the European Commission Circular Cities & Regions Initiative (CCRI) programme.
- Member of the Academy of Management association.
- Member of European Operations Management Association - EurOMA.

My academic degrees comprise a BSc (Hons) in Computer Science (UFPB), MSc in Management (UFPB), and a PhD in Management from Manchester University. After graduating in Computer Science, I worked in the ICT industry for 11 years before moving into academia. During my time in the industry, I managed ICT service contracts for major corporations in the banking, insurance, and oil & gas sectors.

My research focuses mainly on sustainable operations, logistics and supply chain management, with particular emphasis on exploring circular economy strategies, circular supply chain design, sustainable business model innovations, and the interface between the circular and the digital economy. I have published and presented my research in the mainstream of academic journals and international conferences, having active editorial roles at the International Journal of Operations & Production Management (Editorial Review Board Member) and the International Journal of Industrial Engineering and Operations Management (Editorial Board Member).
