    Personal profile

    Biography

Sina is a Postdoctoral Research Associate at Aston University, where he completed a PhD in Civil Engineering with a focus on Geotechnical Engineering. His doctoral research, awarded the highest-ranking studentship in the College of Engineering and Physical Sciences, centred on the development of fibre optic sensing systems for monitoring geo-structures, integrating experimental methods, numerical modelling, and 3D-printing technologies.

Sina’s research career began in 2014 at the University of Guilan, Iran, where he focused on geotechnical stability problems. His MSc work was recognised nationally, earning awards for outstanding achievement and best thesis. Since moving to the UK, he has contributed to a range of interdisciplinary projects including energy geo-structures and biochar in construction, with a strong focus on sustainability and decarbonisation.

In addition to his research, Sina has extensive teaching experience and holds a Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy. He is also a peer reviewer for several leading journals and a finalist in prestigious competitions such as STEM for BRITAIN and the British Renewable Energy Awards.
