    Biography

    Sina is a Postdoctoral Research Associate at Aston University, working on a maritime transport decarbonisation project (funded by UKRI), where he also completed a PhD in Civil Engineering. His doctoral research, funded by UKRI through the highest-ranking studentship in the College of Engineering and Physical Sciences, focused on the development of fibre-optic sensing systems for monitoring geostructures, integrating experimental methods, numerical modelling, and 3D-printing technologies.

    Sina began his research career with a focus on geotechnical stability problems. His MSc work received national recognition, earning awards for outstanding achievement and best thesis. Since then, he has contributed to a range of interdisciplinary projects, including energy geostructures and the use of biochar in construction, Bioenergy with Carbon Capture, Utilisation and Storage (BECCUS), with a strong emphasis on sustainability and decarbonisation.

    Alongside his research, Sina has extensive teaching experience and holds a Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy. He also serves as a peer reviewer for several leading journals and has been a finalist in prestigious competitions such as STEM for BRITAIN, GeoTech Rising Star, and the British Renewable Energy Awards.
