Personal profile
Research Interests
I am a sociologist and geographer interested in the social and spatial dimensions of health technologies and medicines.
My studies have covered the following topics: pharmaceuticals, stem cell research, clinical trials, genomics/bioinformatics, neuroimaging, 3D bioprinting, and advanced therapies (cell and gene therapies).
My interests include:
- Regulation, governance, and public policies in health technologies and medicines
- Digital resources and software in health technologies and medicines development and manufacture, including the implementation of approaches such as artificial intelligence and digital twins
- Political economy of health technologies and medicines, including tensions between various players involved, such as companies and state organisations
- The financialisation of health technology and medicines development and manufacture
- Cultural, cognitive, and linguistic aspects of health technology and medicines development
On the theoretical side, my studies explore the interface between sociology and cognitive linguistics.
On the methodological/epistemological side, I am beginning to explore ways to develop the intuitive and bodily aspects of knowledge production, as these have been to a large degree neglected in academic life.
