Emanuele is a Senior Lecturer in Psychometrics and Chair of the Assessment Group at Aston Medical School, where he has been working since 2018.

He is a psychologist interested in psychometrics and psychological measurement, with experience in research and analysis in a number of domains, including medical education, psychology of individual differences, and mental health. His journey in medical education started in 2016 at Sheffield Medical School, where he was appointed as Assessment Psychometrician, sharing responsibility for the analysis and reporting of assessment data and results from the medical programme.

He is currently responsible for the design and quality assurance of all processes for assessment at Aston Medical School, including standard setting and psychometric post-exam item analysis to inform the refinement of tests. He provides detailed statistical analysis and quality reports for all assessment results.

Within Aston Medical School he also provides his expertise to the Admissions Group for the analysis of admissions data and the differential attainment of applicants from different backgrounds, and to inform on the reliability and validity of the Multiple Mini Interviews.

He reports to Board of Examiners and to the General Medical Council (GMC) to show that Aston medical students’ learning is directed towards the Outcomes for Graduates and that students progress towards meeting the outcomes.

Teaching Activity

Sharing responsibility in training students and staff in Assessment and Psychometrics through dedicated lectures, Team-Based Learning sessions, online and offline material and interactions.

He currently leads on the delivery of the health psychology component of the "Social and Psychological Aspects of Health Care" Block in the undergraduate programme.
