Evanthia is a Lecturer in Supply Chain Engineering in the Engineering Management Department of Aston University. Since 2010, she has been studying and working within an engineering and applied sciences setting, integrating theory and practice and that is an enduring and central aspect of her working life. Evanthia’s research centres on improving decision-making in complex systems, including supply chain and operations, in the context of transportation, logistics and manufacturing. Her primary work, performed in collaboration with multiple start-up and established organisations, focuses on supply chain scaling-up. In particular, her work investigates how companies can meet a growing demand as well as market demand changes in emerging, highly complex and competitive settings, such as the electric vehicles market, through better supply chain design and capabilities investment decisions. Additionally, her work includes research on the optimal design of logistics and material flow systems with the use of simulation modelling and analysis. Evanthia has provided consulting support to more than 35 SMEs and has been awarded and led as PI several research projects totalling more than £1million from various funding bodies (e.g. Innovate UK, TfWM).
Evanthia is a Senior Fellow of Advance UK (Higher Education Academy UK) and an Advisory Board Member for the Logistics & Distribution Cluster for the West Midlands Combined Authority. She holds PhD and MSc degrees in Supply Chain Management from Aston University and MEng in Civil/Transportation Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens. She is a Qualified Licensed Engineer, and her research work has been awarded by professional bodies and competitions (e.g., CIPS, DRA). In 2021 she was also awarded the James Cooper Memorial Cup Annual PhD Award from the CILT for making an original contribution to the field. Evanthia has also studied and received certifications on Systems Thinking from MIT and Leadership, Ethics and Corporate Accountability from Harvard Business School.
