    Personal profile

    Biography

In 2023, I joined Aston as an academic support tutor, overseeing post-graduate business and management students. My expertise lies in student engagement, particularly assisting global majority students throughout their degree programs. I've gained experience in various Higher Education (HE) institutions in the West Midlands. With a teaching background in HE, I've instructed at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, specialising in early childhood education, diversity, and special educational needs. I served as a module lead for a course on globalisation, inequality, and education, which I completely redesigned to adhere to Covid-19 restrictions and facilitate online teaching. Additionally, I've supervised master’s level dissertations and taught MA Early Education in Singapore.

    Research Interests

Currently pursuing a PhD in education, my research focuses on exploring the correlation between the Black Asian and Ethnic Minority (BAME) attainment gap and student engagement. My writing delves into discussions on precarity in HE contracts and demanding workloads. Research interests encompass pedagogy, creative methodologies, and the intersection of religious and academic identity. As a British-born Muslim, my research predominantly centers on identity and decolonised approaches.

Proudly funded by the Office for Students and Research England, the project focuses on three crucial disciplines: Allied Health Professions, Education, and Business and Law.
