PhD projects
I welcome enquiries from prospective PhD students, postdoctoral researchers, visiting researchers and research interns interested in: AI and computer vision for robotics, Event-based and neuromorphic vision, Medical robotics and automated micromanipulation, Vision-guided robotic manipulation and intelligent control, Microrobotics and biomedical applications and in Explainable and trustworthy AI for autonomous systems. I am particularly interested in ambitious researchers seeking to develop intelligent robotic systems for healthcare, life sciences and other real-world applications. Self-funded PhD candidates are welcome to contact me directly to discuss potential projects. Funded opportunities will be advertised when available. Researchers interested in jointly developing fellowship or funding applications are also encouraged to email me with a CV and a brief description of their research interests.
My research focuses on developing intelligent vision-guided robotic systems for challenging real-world applications. I combine artificial intelligence, computer vision, event-based sensing and intelligent control to enable robots to perceive, manipulate and interact with their environments with greater precision and autonomy. A central theme of my work is medical robotics, including automated micromanipulation, vision-based force sensing and microrobotic platforms for biomedical experimentation and cellular studies. I also investigate explainable and trustworthy AI to make autonomous systems safer, more transparent and reliable.
