Personal profile

After working and studying in France, Scotland, China, Canada and Finland over a decade, I moved to Birmingham and joined Aston in January 2017.

Research Interests

My research interests focus on human rights, civil society transformations and disability rights advocacy in China and East Asia, with particular attention to how citizens use the law and media to promote sociopolitical change and to redress injustice and social exclusion.

Another strand of my research examines the emerging Basic Income movement in Europe and East Asia from a comparative perspective.

After an MA in European Studies at the University of Western Brittany, I completed in 2016 a PhD in Social Sciences and Asian Studies at the University of Turku (Finland) with a dissertation titled "Liu Xiaobo's Human Rights Struggle. A Contextual Analysis from a Historical Perspective" which is soon coming out as a book.
