Ivo received his doctoral degree in quantitative economics from Maastricht University in 1995 (cum laude), and obtained his doctorate degree from the Open University of the Netherlands in 2008. Before accepting his current position, he was Professor in Management Accounting & Control, and Associate Professor in Methods & Methodology at Nyenrode Business University in the Netherlands, (Senior) Lecturer in Management Accounting at the Open University of the Netherlands, and Junior Researcher at Statistics Netherlands and UNU-MERIT.
He has over 20 years of experience in university education, PhD-supervision, and university management, mainly in the Netherlands.
Ivo is interested in how management accounting and control practices are shaped and changed in organizations, mainly using insights from practice theory and the application of visual methods. He also likes to explore the relationship between using specific research methodologies and the subsequent writing up of what are perceived to be relevant research outcomes.
I currently supervise seven PhD-students.
