Dr James Wilson is a Lecturer in Chemistry in the Department of
Chemical Engineering and Biotechnologies at Aston University.
He completed his PhD at the University of Warwick in 2015 working on
polymers from renewable materials for biodiesel applications. Following
this, he then joined the University of Akron in Ohio, USA as a
Postdoctoral Research Associate researching 3D printing of biomaterials.
In 2018, he began a fellowship at the Royal College of Surgeons in
Ireland (RCSI) in Dublin, focusing on the bioadhesives. He moved to the
University of Sheffield in 2020 as a Senior Research Associate followed
by Research Fellow, where he concentrated on reversible adhesives for
sustainable composites.
In October 2023, James began his independent career at Aston
University. He is currently beginning his research based on novel
biomaterials from sustainable resources that degrade safely in the
environment. Having gained experience with spin-out companies and
industrial partners, meeting their needs for commercial viability both
short- and long-term is another key focus.
