Research Interests

Judi’s research is located on the interface between Political Theory and British Politics, with a particular focus on rhetoric, ideology and the performance of leadership. She recently completed a British Academy/Leverhulme-funded project on the rhetorical dynamics of unity and distinctiveness within the Conservative-Liberal Democrat coalition, the findings of which are published in her monograph Conflict, Co-operation and the Rhetoric of Coalition Government (Palgrave Macmillan, 2018). Her next project, for which she was awarded a Leverhulme Research Fellowship (2019-2011), explores the rhetoric of Britain and Britishness through the lens of the Queen’s Christmas Broadcast.
