Julian brings a diverse background of academic experience to his role as Senior Lecturer in Academic Practice, which ranges from a degree in accountancy to a PhD in Civil Engineering; Julian also holds masters degrees in Industrial Archaeology and Sociology. Julian’s professional experience includes several years working in the NHS and over twenty years in university teaching including positions within academic management and educational development. In addition, Julian ran his own business in ‘training and design’ for eight years and can offer first-hand experience of being both employed and self-employed.Drawing-upon his wide background of academic practice, Julian’s main role is to lead Aston’s taught PGCert in academic practice and manage the provision for CPD training.
