In October 2022, Martin joined the Department of Computer Science at Aston University as a Lecturer. Before, he was a postdoc for 2 years in the Intelligent Robotics Lab at University of Birmingham with Mohan Sridharan and Ales Leonardis. He got awarded the title Dr.-Ing. (PhD) from TU Berlin, Germany, where he worked in the Industrial Automation Technology Group with Jörg Krüger from 2014 to 2019. From 2015 to 2019 he was also part of the Flying Faculty for the Turkish-German University in Istanbul, Turkey. His research interests are in the field of robotic grasping and manipulation, reproducibility in robotics research, and ethical considerations in robotics & AI.
