Biography
Dr. Seyed Mojtaba Sajadi (SFHEA) is an Associate Professor (Senior Lecturer) in Operations and Supply Chain Simulation at Aston Business School, Aston University. He holds a Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering from Amirkabir University of Technology and was a visiting researcher at the Faculty of Applied Economics, University of Antwerp, Belgium, during 2009–2010.
Before joining Aston University, Dr. Sajadi served as an Assistant Professor at Coventry Business School (2021–2022), where he was the Course Director for the MSc Business Analytics programme and Associate Course Director for the BA Business Management programme. From 2010 to 2020, he held academic and leadership roles at the University of Tehran, including Associate Professor in New Business Development and Associate Dean for International Affairs. In 2015, he was recognised as a Young Outstanding Researcher at the University of Tehran.
His research focuses on simulation-based optimization in supply chain management and business analytics. He has extensive expertise in various simulation techniques, including Discrete Event Simulation (DES), Agent-Based Simulation (ABS), System Dynamics (SD), Monte Carlo methods, and Hybrid Simulation. His work applies these techniques across diverse fields such as project management, healthcare, manufacturing systems, supply chain management, disaster management, banking services, ICT, and after-sales services. Additionally, he has a strong background in optimization, business analytics, and the use of mathematical modeling, metaheuristic algorithms, and data science techniques to develop effective simulation-based optimization approaches for solving complex real-world problems.
Dr. Sajadi has significant experience teaching and supervising undergraduate and postgraduate students in various international settings, including the UK, Belgium, the Netherlands, Turkey, Indonesia, Japan, and Iran. He has taught multiple modules, including Simulation Optimization, Operations Research, Supply Chain Optimization, Business Analytics, and Machine Learning.
