Ozlem's research interest in a broad sense entails the judgment and decision making of nonprofessional investors, analysts, auditors and managers using the accounting information. Particularly, she is interested in how accounting regulations and format of financial statements impact nonprofessional investors’, analysts’ and managers’ judgments, and the way nonprofessional investors, analysts, and managers interact with each other. Her primary research method in answering her research questions is to conduct carefully designed experiments which unfold variables that are mixed in natural settings, to draw strong causal inferences. Ozlem is recognised as a Senior Fellow of Higher Education Academy and is the recipient of the 2020 Aston Business School Teaching Award. She is the director of the MSc. International Accounting and Finance Programme.
