Personal profile
Research Interests
My research interests are focused on the study of membrane proteins, spanning from single molecule studies to advanced tissue engineering. Current projects in the lab include developing iPSC-based models of the human blood-brain barrier, drug discovery for brain oedema by inhibiting aquaporin channel function or localisation, characterising the interactome of various membrane proteins, using mass photometry to characterise membrane protein oligomerisation, optimising solubilisation conditions for G protein-coupled receptors, and cryo-EM studies of aquaporins using novel membrane solubilising agents.
I have capacity for supervision of undergraduate and Masters level research projects, and am happy to receive expressions of interest for PhD study.
Biography
I am a physicist by training (MPhys, University of Warwick). I completed my PhD in the Molecular Organisation and Assembly in Cells doctoral training centre at the University of Warwick, where I developed biophysical tools to study aquaporin water channel proteins. I am currently a BBSRC Discovery fellow based in the School of Biosciences.
