Personal profile

Biography

I am a sociologist, writer and community organiser with a PhD in Sociology from the London School of Economics (LSE), specialising in immigration detention, borders, and the racialised governance of mobility.

My research examines confinement, legal personhood, and the expansion of the carceral state, with particular attention to the afterlives of empire and coloniality in contemporary border regimes. Since September 2025, I have co-convened the British Sociological Association (BSA) Race and Ethnicity Study Group.

My work has been published across academic and public-facing platforms, including LSE Review of Books, Society + Space, Liberté, and Border Criminologies. I currently serve as Managing and Reviews Editor at The Philosopher.

I'm currently completing my first manuscript, On Ghostly Lives, which is based on my doctoral research.

I also organise screenings with the Haringey Community Cinema.
