Biography
Dr Rakesh Bissoondeeal is a Senior Lecturer in Economics within the Department of Economics, Finance and Entrepreneurship at Aston Business School. He joined Aston University in August 2005 after completing his PhD in Financial Economics at Nottingham Trent University. Since joining, he has taught modules in Microeconomics, Macroeconomics and Econometrics at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. He has held a number of administrative roles which include couse directorships at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, Departmental Director of Learning and Teaching and Deputy Head of Department. Most of his publications to date are around using weighted measures of money to improve the stability of money demand functions with a view of extracting reliable information for guiding monetary policy. His recent research interests include studying the links between the housing market, stock market and the macroeconomy. He has published in a number of journals; these include Journal of International Money and Finance, Journal of Financial Stability and Manchester School.

- Inflation and exchange rate forecasting.
- The links between the stock market and other markets such as housing market.
- FDI and its links to macroeconomic variables.
- Modelling and forecasting of macroeconomic variables.
