Biography
Shafaq is a Teaching Fellow in Finance (Lecturer) and Programme Director of the BSc Finance programme at Aston Business School. She earned her PhD in Finance from Queen Mary University of London and is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA). Prior to joining Aston Business School in 2021, she gained valuable teaching experience at Queen Mary University of London, where she worked as a seminar tutor, supporting undergraduate teaching in finance-related modules.
Her research interests lie in corporate finance, asset pricing, firms’ R&D investment, and sustainable finance. Her research has been published in prestigious academic journals and presented at major international finance conferences.
She is actively engaged in pedagogical and scholarly work, with a particular focus on active online discussion forums as a tool for enhancing student engagement and fostering a strong sense of learning community. She also works on the design and implementation of innovative assessment strategies to support inclusive and authentic learning.
