Biography

Dr Papathanasiou joined the Department of Civil Engineering, Aston University, in September 2021. He is senior lecturer in Structural Engineering. Dr Papathanasiou is mechanical engineer and expert in mathematical modelling and Finite Element Analysis. He has PhD in heat transfer analysis of composite patch repair processes, MSc in Computational Mechanics, MSc in Applied Mechanics and more than 30 publications in applied mathematics and engineering high impact, peer reviewed journals. He has participated in several collaborative funded projects. From September 2019 to September 2021 Dr Papathanasiou was Lecturer in Brunel University London. From 2010 to 2014 he was post doctoral researcher in the National Technical University of Athens, Greece and from 2014 to 2016 he was Marie Curie Research Fellow in the University of Trento in Italy. 

Qualifications

 

Doctor of Philosophy in Computational Mathematics/Mechanics, National Technical University of Athens (NTUA), School of Applied Mathematical and Physical Sciences. Dissertation topic: “Analytical, Numerical and Hybrid Methods for the Solution of Epoxy Resin Cure Rate Equations and Coupled Heat Transfer - Cure Reaction Modelling in thin multi-layer plates”.
