Wendy is the current EDI Lead for Aston Business School. Prior to this role she was the Head of the Marketing and Strategy Department at ABS from September 2016 until January 2023. As a Senior Teaching Fellow she has 30 years teaching experience, having spent 15 years working at universities and 15 years in management and lecturing roles at several local Further Education and Sixth Form Colleges.
Wendy has extensive experience of teaching and managing a variety of Marketing and Business related undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, including 3 years as the Undergraduate Programme Director for the BSc Marketing programme at Aston. In other institutions she taught on various post -16, Higher Education and professional programmes including HND/Cs, A levels, BTECs, Chartered Institute of Marketing, CMI, CIPD and Institute of Export professional courses. In addition she has experience of teaching and managing several teacher training courses such as the City & Guilds 7307, 7407 and the Certificate in Education programme.
In 2008 Wendy moved into the HE sector, first working at Newman University, where she acted as the Programme Director for both a new Foundation degree programme (in conjunction with Halesowen College)and the Combined Honours degree programme for Business & Management Studies.
In 2011 she joined Aston University as a Teaching Fellow in the Marketing group. She was promoted to Senior Teaching Fellow in 2016. Her research interests are in relationship marketing, service quality management; specifically the management of the student experience and managing students’ successful transition to Higher Education.

Prior to her teaching career, Wendy gained a bachelor’s degree in Business and then spent several years within the services marketing and not-for profit sectors where she worked in various sales and marketing roles for a local university, a marketing agency, a charity and a training provider amongst others. Whilst working she gained an MSc in Marketing Management, and more recently a PhD, through part time study at Aston University. She also holds a Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE), is a Principal Fellow of AdvanceHE (PFHEA), a full member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing (MCIM) and is a Certified Business and Management Educator (CMBE).
