    Biography

    Zaki has leadership roles in Medical Education, including as Year 5 Lead on the MBChB Programme and as Lead for Integrated Academic Training. He is a Consultant Endocrinologist at UHB with interests in Metabolic and Rare Bone Disease, Young Adult/Transitional Care, General Endocrinology and Internal Medicine.

    He is research active, as PI on a number of studies of rare bone/ calcium disorders, as well as in Pedagogical Research. He was previously awarded a Research Scholarship by the NIHR WM Clinical Research Network. He trained in London and Birmingham on a clinical academic track and held NIHR and European Research Council funded fellowships.

    He has held external roles at other Medical Schools, Post-graduate Colleges and Professional Bodies in the UK and internationally. He is Editor of Osteoporosis Review, a Committee Member of the Royal Osteoporosis Society and previously served terms on the SfE Public Engagement Committee and as a Editorial Advisor for the British Medical Journal. He is passionate about Medical Education, and continuous professional development - he is currently completing his MSc at Oxford University.
