Abstract

GPONs with extended reach require 1.3 μm and 1.5 μm amplifiers for up and downstream, respectively. Burst-mode compatibility and largest possible input power dynamics are necessary. We show that latest-generation QD-SOAs fulfill these demanding specifications.
