Abstract

A compound of the Formula (I) below for use as an antimicrobial agent wherein R1 is H or a C1-C15 hydrocarbyl group that is optionally substituted with a hydroxyl, amine, carboxylic acid and/or ester functional group, and R2 is H or a C1-C15 hydrocarbyl group that is optionally substituted with a hydroxyl, amine, carboxylic acid and/or ester functional group, with the provisos that if R1 is -H, R2 is not H, and if R1 is -CH2CH=CHCH2CH3, R2 is not - (CH2) 7COOH.
