Abstract
This study is based on empirical linguistic data and examines modern Yiddish as spoken in present-day Israel. The approach is functional-pragmatic, analyzing the way in which the grammatical repertory of Yiddish is used in narrative discourse. Special reference is made to structures such as the tense system, complex sentences and Yiddish word order.
