Abstract

This chapter describes most modern biomedical applications of terahertz (THz) radiation. After a brief introduction to most widely used THz devices, we provide an overview of the range of applications THz technology has found in medicine and biology to date. We present state-of the-art results in cancer diagnostics by THz, and its potential to be used for cancer treatment. Dermatological, ophthalmological, and stomatological applications are considered and described. This chapter will be equally useful for biophotonic researchers working within another spectral bands, and for THz researchers working with other applications of THz radiation.
