Abstract
This report explores how Birmingham can develop a distinctive, inclusive and sustainable Music Visitor Experience grounded in the city’s globally significant musical heritage and contemporary live music ecosystem. Drawing on three multi‑sector roundtables, a public survey of over 1,000 respondents, and an updated mapping of Birmingham’s music assets, the study examines current patterns of engagement, demand and economic potential. The findings show that Birmingham already attracts highly engaged music audiences and demonstrates strong visitor demand, but lacks a coherent, navigable way of connecting its diverse music cultures, neighbourhoods and venues. Rather than proposing a single solution or attraction, the report sets out evidence‑based options and considerations for curating, connecting and supporting existing activity to enable longer stays, repeat visits and inclusive economic impact.
