Bismuth-doped fiber amplifiers: State of the art and future prospect

Abstract

Study of the optical gain in alumino- and germanosilicate Bi-doped optical fibers around 1150 and 1450 nm is presented. In germanosilicate fibers the net gain of 1.3 dB/m is obtained.
