Abstract

Reaction of activated aromatics containing phenols, naphthol, methoxynaphthalenes, anisole etc. with 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium tribromide ([Bmim]Br₃) under solvent-free conditions, selectively gave the corresponding monobromination products with excellent yields.
