Abstract
Cognitive grammar is a theoretical model of grammar that shares key principles with other cognitive linguistic approaches to language. When applied analytically, the model can be used in the analysis of literary phenomena such as point of view alignment, the presentation of action and agency, and narrator or reader positioning. This article outlines the central components of the cognitive grammar model and summarizes some of its thematic applications in stylistic analysis.
