Comparative Study of Stator-PM and Dual-PM Consequent-Pole Hybrid Excited Flux-Reversal Machines

Research output: Chapter in Book/Published conference outputConference publication

Abstract

In this paper, the flux regulation and torque capabilities of stator-PM and dual-PM consequent-pole hybrid excited flux-reversal machines (CP-HEFRMs) are comparatively studied and verified by finite element analyses. The phenomenon of flux cancellation in both CP-HEFRMs is studied and compared as PM and DC MMFs have opposite polarities in flux-enhancing operation mode. It is found that stator-PM CP-HEFRM exhibits both good flux-regulation and torque capabilities during flux-enhancing, while dual-PM CP-HEFRM exhibits excellent torque capacity without DC excitation but poor flux-regulation capability.
