Abstract

This entry focuses on how corpus linguistics is used to analyze hate speech and im/politeness. It begins by contextualizing im/politeness and hate speech within the field of pragmatics and provides a review of the literature on the topic, concentrating on three primary domains: (a) metapragmatics, (b) sociopragmatics, and (c) disourse analysis.
