Abstract

This article explores the interplay between usage-based approaches and corpus linguistics, offering a comprehensive understanding of language development. It examines how linguistic knowledge is shaped by frequency, exposure and usage. This article also demonstrates the ways in which corpora can support usage-based theories by providing empirical evidence to validate key claims, such as the importance of context, the dynamic nature of language and the emergence of constructions. Additionally, it provides a deeper understanding of how language acquisition is driven by linguistic input and the user's interaction with the language.
