Cultivating business skill development in healthcare courses

Research output: Chapter in Book/Published conference outputChapter

This chapter explores the course delivery within healthcare programmes and preparation for life post-graduation. Healthcare courses delivered at Aston University are required to meet Professional, Statutory and Regulatory Bodies. These courses are practical orientated courses with an emphasis on placement opportunities predominantly within the National Health Service (NHS) where offered. Students upon graduation have opportunities to work in various sectors, including the private or independent sectors. Current course curricula do not emphasise fundamental business skills to support student development and professional growth for these employment sectors. This chapter provides examples that highlight creative innovations that engage internal university services, as well as external collaborators, to provide student opportunities for business skill development.
