Abstract
We demonstrate amplification of burst mode optical packets under different traffic density by a fibre optic parametric amplifier (FOPA) and compare with EDFA as in-line amplifier after 50 km SMF transmission. These experiments showed a minimum of a 2dB performance improvement of FOPA compared with the EDFA.
