Abstract
The purpose of this chapter is to discuss the concepts of ethics and deception during the negotiation competition in a higher education institution. It also goes beyond and develops notions in ethics deriving from applying negotiation within responsible management learning and sustainable development. Ethics education in our context is related to the ethical training our students receive by participating, on a voluntary basis, in the Negotiation Skills Competition that we run as co-organisers. The importance and development of moral character and “virtues ethics” in the search of the ultimate truth or excellence in a negotiation is particular relevant to the negotiation competition. In doing so, we make a contribution towards addressing how education programmes in higher education institutions should include the teaching and delivery of ethical issues facing students and individuals at workplace and life.
