Abstract

We demonstrate a ‘black-box’ PI-FOPA operating with 16dB net-gain within a DWDM transmission system for the first time, amplifying a record 45x127Gb/s equivalent PDM-QPSK signals over 4x75km. Bit error rate performance is evaluated and compared with an all-EDFA system.
