Abstract

Herein, we investigate metamaterials known as hyperbolic media. It is worthwhile mentioning, that considered substances in the usual local-response approximation exhibit hyperbolic dispersion and an associated broadband singularity in the density of states. Qualitatively we consider different properties of these metamaterials at the optical frequency range. The former are studied due to the free-electron nonlocal optical response of their metal constituents instead, from the more microscopic hydrodynamic Drude theory. Doing so, here, we report on a highly non-local metamaterial cases.
