Abstract

To understand the place of youth work in Muslim contexts it is important to grasp the environment within which young Muslims live and situate, perpetuate and create their personal and collective identity. This also provides a means to understand the issues facing youth work with young Muslims and Muslim youth workers in contemporary Western Society. In this chapter Tahir Abbas provides an analysis of the political and social milieu that encompasses youth work and Islam
