N2 - Recent studies indicate that global supply chains face unprecedented challenges, with disruptions increasing by 67% between 2019 and 2022, and the global supply chain market is expected to reach $42.46 billion by 2027. This chapter critically examines the evolution of global supply chains from Industry 4.0, which leverages technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), cloud computing, machine learning, and big data analytics, to Industry 5.0, which focuses on human-machine collaboration. While Industry 4.0 drives substantial gains in efficiency and productivity, its implementation often needs more emphasis on human engagement in digital transformation, thereby limiting its potential to create more inclusive and adaptive supply chain models. In contrast, Industry 5.0 represents a paradigm shift toward human-centric technological advancements, fostering deeper human-machine synergy. Through a systematic literature review, this chapter explores prevailing trends in digital supply chain management and analyzes the projected impact of Industry 5.0 technologies on sustainability, efficiency, and adaptability. The findings provide essential insights for scholars and practitioners seeking to navigate and capitalize on this transformative period in supply chain evolution.
