Abstract

This paper reviews the opportunities and challenges of UWB transmission systems in terms of ISRS and fibre attenuation. We also discuss a novel design of UWB dual-stage discrete Raman amplifier spanning E-to- L bands and numerically demonstrate the gain, noise figure and output power performances.
