Abstract
The relationship between the DBA supervisor and the student is a key factor for the successful completion of the programme. It can be complex, dynamic, and enriching not only for the supervisor and student but also for the university and
for the business organisation employing the student. The relationship can also be thought of as special and a partnership of equals that is mutually beneficial and collaborative. Like any special relationship there needs to be mutual trust and respect together with the recognition of individuality, experience and
outside pressures that can impact on the research journey.
