Abstract
For pt.I see ibid., vol.25, p.L225 (1989). The QCD sum rule method is employed to provide an estimate for the mass of the strange quark. It is found to be considerably smaller than previous estimates in the literature. Certain shortcomings of the approach are also exposed.
