Abstract

Empirical models are a technique that has been used in research for a long time, and that proved to be capable of describe pseudo-random phenomena. In this paper, we present PREFAIRS, a protocol used to deploy QoS, and that was designed using empirical models. With our empirical model we are able to determine the available capacity of the ad hoc network and the maximum bandwidth of new flows to guarantee a specified QoS. We show that a combination of our network model, PREFAIRS and a empirical model is able to enforce fairness, predictability and stability in ad hoc networks.
